Extensionists from Rizal Technological University’s (RTU) Bachelor of Technical-Vocational Teacher Education (BTVTED) Department, led by Project Leader Instr. Ryan V. Munar conducted an activity-based extension program to enhance the digital literacy and practical skills of 20 students from Addition Hills Integrated School (AHIS).
Through the program, titled “Future-Ready: Digital Literacy and Practical Skills for Success”, the extensionists from the BTVTED Department conducted lectures on essential digital competencies and practical skills necessary to thrive in an increasingly interconnected and technology-driven world for Grade 11 AHIS students.
Students from the department also assisted in facilitating the sessions and hands-on activities, engaging AHIS students through a series of interactive discussions and practical exercises. With their assistance, the participants were introduced to concepts that promote global citizenship, fostering awareness of their roles and responsibilities in a diverse and interconnected society.
The program also focused on enhancing participants’ 21st-century skills, including critical thinking, communication, collaboration, and creativity—skills essential for real-world success. Opportunities were also provided for students to develop technical and problem-solving skills relevant to Information Technology and networking careers, improving productivity, data management, organization, and analytical proficiency through spreadsheet tools such as Microsoft Excel.
Achieving its target, the program and the extensionists empowered the participants with foundational knowledge and competencies that support both academic growth and future career readiness.
This initiative exemplifies RTU’s ongoing advocacy for expanding the delivery of quality education through microcredentials, even beyond campus boundaries.
