Commission on Higher Education (CHED) Chairperson and RTU Governing Board Chair, Dr. Shirley C. Agrupis, presided over the Board of Regents (BOR) meeting of Rizal Technological University (RTU) on September 18, 2025, which focused on initiatives to enhance the institution’s educational offerings and strengthen its public service mandate. The meeting was attended by RTU President Dr. Ma. Eugenia M. Yangco, together with the members of the Board, and, Dr. Rodolfo L. Ducut, VP for Finance and Administration, who collectively reviewed and discussed strategic programs designed to advance the university’s mission of providing accessible, high-quality technological and professional education.
In her remarks, Dr. Agrupis extended her commendation to RTU highlighting the data-driven presentations made during the session. She emphasized that such practice of evidence-based governance and transparency in reporting makes RTU “the first among the SUCs under her charge” to consistently implement this kind of presentation in BOR meetings.
The discussions also underscored RTU’s vital role in shaping innovation-driven education and expanding opportunities for students, faculty, and communities. Board members deliberated on various academic and administrative measures, ensuring alignment with RTU’s vision of educational excellence and its commitment to nation-building.
This Board of Regents meeting exemplifies the strong collaboration between CHED and state universities and colleges (SUCs) in upholding academic quality, accountability, and inclusivity. As the university continues to move forward with its strategic plans for the coming academic year, more detailed initiatives are expected to be announced in the succeeding weeks.
