21st Development Policy Research Month (DPRM)

Rizal Technological University supports the celebration of the 21st Development Policy Research Month (DPRM) this September, with the theme “Going Green and Digital for a More Sustainable, Inclusive, and Prosperous Future for All”.

The DPRM is an annual event held every September led by the Philippine Institute for Development Studies (PIDS) by virtue of Malacañang Proclamation 247, series of 2002. The month-long celebration aims to promote and amplify the importance of policy research in crafting evidence-based development plans, programs, and policies.

This year’s DPRM theme emphasizes the importance of the interconnected processes of green transition and digital transformation—or the twin transition—to build back better and stronger after the COVID-19 pandemic and achieve the 2030 Sustainable Development Goals. Throughout the month, various events organized by PIDS and its partners will feature evidence-based discussions on the twin transition and how to manage and implement it effectively in the Philippines.

Speakers include PIDS President Aniceto Orbeta Jr. and Vice President Marife M. Ballesteros. Leading the presentation on the DPRM theme is Senior Research Fellow Francis Mark Quimba. Meanwhile, insights and commentary will be provided by Assistant Secretary for Free Wi-Fi and National Broadband Implementation Philip A. Varilla of the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT), Mayor Benjie Magalong of Baguio City, and Mr. Earl Martin S. Valencia, business sector representative of the National Innovation Council (NIC) and co-founder of Plentina.
