RTU Library Leaders Advance Skills at ASLP National Congress

The Library Management System Unit (LMSU) of Rizal Technological University (RTU) represented the University at the 2025 Association of Special Libraries of the Philippines (ASLP) National Congress on September 24 to 26, 2025, at the Belian Hotel in Tagbilaran City, Bohol.

The RTU delegation, composed of LMSU Head Instr. Bobby Cauilan and LMSU staff Asst. Prof. Arcely Hariramani, attended the three-day congress themed “Yaman at Kaban: Mga Laybraryan at Pantas ng Impormasyon sa mga Diskurso at Kasanayan sa Pang-ekonomikong Pag-unlad”.

Sessions explored the intersection of librarianship with cultural heritage, including presentations on Philippine numismatic and art collections, Islamic banking as part of Philippine heritage, and library services for indigenous peoples. The congress also addressed timely topics, including demystifying public finance through a multicultural approach, promoting gender equality in STEM fields, and the role of librarians in providing safe spaces.

The ASLP National Congress, organized in partnership with the National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA) through the National Committee on Libraries and Information Services (NCLIS), provided RTU’s library professionals with valuable insights into current trends and best practices in library management and information services.

The participation of RTU’s Library Management Officers underscores the university’s commitment to professional development and staying abreast of innovations in library science and information management.
