Faculty members from Rizal Technological University (RTU) participated in the SCALE NCR Innovation Crash Course on Incubation Management on December 9 and 10, 2024. With the invitation of the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) PAMAMARISAN headed by Mr. Oscar B. Sevilla, Jr., the event brought together representatives from various higher education institutions to enhance their skills and knowledge in managing university-based incubators and technopreneurship centers.
The two-day course began at AduNest, Adamson University, on December 9 and continued at UPSCALE Innovation Hub, UP Diliman, on December 10. Designed to foster a thriving entrepreneurial ecosystem in universities, the program focused on equipping participants with the tools and insights needed to optimize the performance of their respective innovation and incubation programs.
The workshop featured in-depth sessions that explored the fundamentals of business incubation, including the dynamics of innovation ecosystems, university mapping, and the mobilization of innovation curricula. Participants were guided through key processes such as setting up incubators, building external ecosystems, supporting incubatees, and sustaining incubator operations. Special attention was given to understanding the capabilities of local universities and aligning them with the broader innovation landscape.
RTU was well-represented at the event by a dynamic group of faculty members, including Instr. Donato Z. Estocada, Dr. Ryan Manuel D. Guido, Dr. Kathryn D. Tria, Instr. Cyrille Anne A. Rafael, Instr. Gerald Paulo R. Jugo, Instr. Matthew Jeffrey G. Roque, Instr. R.S. L. Lagrimas, Instr. Christian Paul Mendoza, Instr. Louis F. Ruado, and Instr. Victor Antonio M. Lim. Their active participation reflected RTU’s dedication to fostering innovation and entrepreneurship within its academic community.
By joining the SCALE NCR Innovation Crash Course, RTU continues to strengthen its capacity to nurture technopreneurship and innovation, preparing its incubators to effectively support students, researchers, and start-ups. The university’s engagement in initiatives like this demonstrates its commitment to contributing to the national goal of developing sustainable and impactful innovation-driven ecosystems.
