Rizalianos Join Training-Workshop on the Fundamentals of Structural Equation Modeling for Social Sciences

Iloilo City, Philippines — Faculty members from Rizal Technological University participated in the Training-Workshop on the Fundamentals of Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) for Social Sciences, held from April 16 to 18, 2026, at Days Hotel by Wyndham Iloilo.

Representing the university were Assoc. Prof. John Eric Estrellado, Asst. Prof. Nida Alcantara, Instr. Maricar Labong and Dr. Nilmar Moreno, who joined fellow academics and researchers in an intensive three-day training organized by the International Association of Scholarly Publishers, Editors and Reviewers, Inc.

The workshop aimed to strengthen participants’ understanding of SEM, enhance their analytical competencies, and develop practical skills in applying SEM using JAMOVI software. The training covered both theoretical foundations and applied statistical modeling techniques essential for analyzing complex relationships in social science research.

Dr. John Vianne Murcia, Research Director and Head of Analytics at Jose Maria College Foundation, Inc., led sessions exploring key topics such as moderated regression, mediation models, SEM concepts, and model development.

Throughout the three-day workshop, participants engaged in hands-on sessions each day, applying concepts in real time, developing models, and interpreting results under guided instruction. Workshops and collaborative discussions further enriched the learning experience.

On the final day, participants focused on advanced applications, including path analysis and manuscript flow in SEM studies, culminating in a reflection session, an open forum, and the awarding of certificates.

The participation of Rizaliano faculty highlights the university’s strong commitment to advancing research capabilities and fostering academic excellence. Through exposure to advanced analytical tools and methodologies, RTU educators continue to enhance their capacity to produce high-quality research and mentor future scholars.
