Delegates from Rizal Technological University (RTU) shone at the International Multidisciplinary Research-based Extension Conference (IMREC) 2025, held on November 19-22, 2025, at Tagbilaran City, Bohol, and hosted by the Polytechnic University of the Philippines and Bohol Island State University, by presenting their respective Extension Programs.
The presenters from Pandayang Rizalia included Asst. Prof. John Benedick D. Alim, Instr. Kriznald John O. Azucena, Instr. Harvey C. Almadin, and Assoc. Prof. Marie Joy C. Jorduela.
Asst. Prof. Alim presented their paper titled “Project MAKE: Monitoring and Knowledge Empowerment of the Pasig City Civil Organizations.” Project MAKE is a flagship initiative that has since been conducted by RTU, in collaboration with the Pasig City Civil Society Organizations Academy.
Instr. Azucena and Instr. Almadin also presented one of RTU’s extension pride, “Mushroom Cultivation as a Tool for Rehabilitation and Livelihood through a Community-Based Initiative in Pasig City”. Through this project, RTU has been empowering local communities to cultivate edible and growable mushrooms in support of urban agriculture and livelihoods.
Assoc. Prof. Jorduela’s presentation was their Shorthand Refresher for Stenographers, a learning and development initiative that strengthens stenographers through the COSTRAPHIL, Inc. network.
Under the theme, “Rooted in Service, Rising Impact: Reimagining Extension for Local Solutions to Global Challenges”, IMREC 2025 served as a platform for extensionists and academicians across the globe to engage in meaningful academic discussions and collaborative efforts in uplifting communities, formulating solutions to local challenges, and innovating strategies for more impactful extension programs.
Their exemplary presentations showcased the University’s unwavering commitment to service, innovation, and leadership in extension and community development. The University’s participation at IMREC 2025 concluded with a renewed call for institutions to collaborate, innovate, and remain firmly grounded in service while continuing to rise in impact for communities around the world.
