Three Rizalianos elevated the Pandayang Rizalia pride in the field of Astronomy with their experiment proposal, Double Gyroscope, winning prestige as an International Finalist in the recently conducted Asian Try Zero-G 2025 competition.

The experiment proposed by Christopher Tumamac, Rose Ann B. Cezar, and Ryan Andrew R. Doña, 2nd-year Rizal Technological University (RTU) students from the BS Astronomy program, was selected as the overall winner among the 89 entries from the Philippines in the ATZG 2025  conducted by Philippine Space Agency (PhilSA) in collaboration with the (Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA). This win means that the Double Gyroscope experiment is one of the 11 International Finalists which will be carried out by a JAXA astronaut aboard the International Space Station (ISS).

AZTG 2025 filtered 500 experiment proposals from 1,176 applicants among nine Kibo-ABC participating countries and regions, and the three Rizalianos successfully made their mark in ATZG 2025 on March 14 under the guidance of their competition advisers Dr. Rose Ann B. Bautista and Mr. Bjorn Jasper Raquel.

This achievement paves Rizal Technological University’s status as a leading academic center in the field of Astronomy. This accomplishment by our students are a celebration of Pandayang Rizalia’s commitment to academic excellence and scientific pioneering and development. Certainly, Rizalianos are one with Dr. Jose Rizal’s penchant and prowess for science.
