Rizal Technological University (RTU) and Camarines Norte State College (CNSC) successfully convened a comprehensive “Benchmark Activity” last July 3, 2025, held at RTU Mandaluyong Main Campus, brought together faculty and leadership from both institutions to share insights and best practices, focusing on the College of Education (CEd) Bachelor of Technical-Vocational Teacher Education (BTVTED) program.
The day-long activity commenced with a formal opening ceremony, presided over by Instr. Armida R. Mamaril. Dignitaries from RTU, including the Vice President for Academic and Student Affairs (VPASA) Dr. Kristine Y. Opulencia delivered insightful opening remarks, respectively. Key faculty members from both RTU’s CED- BTVTED department and CNSC were formally introduced, fostering an atmosphere of collaboration. The morning sessions delved into the specifics of the BTVTED program at RTU, presented by Dr. Wendelyn A. Samarita, Dean of the College of Education. Discussions may have also highlighted successful industry partnerships and linkages vital to the program’s practical application, a topic addressed by Inst. Angeline V. Villareal, Head of BTVTED.
Further into the program, Assoc. Prof. Romelyn Z. Callueng, Coordinator of the BTVTED SIT, provided a detailed overview of the program’s Supervised Industry Training (SIT) component, a crucial aspect of technical-vocational education. A significant segment of the activity also involved CNSC’s Dr. Jerome H. Baldemoro, Dean of the College of Trades and Technology, who delivered a message, and Dr. Faith Micah D. Abenes-Balbin, Head of RTU-IFLDE, who presented on CNSC’s Bind Tech Program, offering valuable comparative insights. The culmination of the sharing sessions was a presentation of research findings related to the BTVTED program by Dr. Nilmar I. Moreno, a BTVTED Faculty member, which likely provided data-driven insights for program enhancement.
This benchmarking initiative underscores Rizal Technological University’s commitment to continuous improvement, academic excellence, and fostering collaborative relationships with other educational institutions.
