SAFETY IN ACTION: RTU Conducts Joint Simulation Exercises and Emergency Response Drill

In consonance with its institutional mandate to uphold a safe, secure, and disaster-resilient learning environment, Rizal Technological University (RTU) successfully conducted a comprehensive Simulation Exercise and Emergency Response Drill on July 4, 2026, reaffirming the University’s continuing commitment to campus safety and disaster preparedness.

The initiative was spearheaded by the Security, Safety, and Disaster Risk Reduction Management Unit (SSDRRMU), under the leadership of Instr. Jayson Denaga, in close collaboration with the Administrative Services Management Office, headed by Dr. Ma. Isabel Dizon. The activity forms part of the University’s broader institutional framework for strengthening organizational readiness against both natural and human-induced threats to campus security.

To achieve a heightened standard of operational preparedness reflective of real-world emergency conditions, RTU forged strategic partnerships with several expert external agencies, namely: Lifeguard Gabriel Security Agency Corp., the Philippine National Police (PNP) Specialized Explosive Ordnance Disposal Canine Unit (SECU), PNP Substation 6, the PNP Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) Team, and the ELYSE Fire and Rescue Volunteer Group.

Through the technical expertise and professional guidance extended by these first responder units, the exercise employed realistic emergency scenarios and synchronized response protocols designed to simulate authentic crisis conditions. This multi-sectoral approach afforded participating RTU security personnel and disaster response teams the opportunity to acquire critical competencies in crisis management, rapid deployment strategies, and community-based safety protocols—skills deemed essential in mitigating institutional vulnerability to emergent security challenges.

The conduct of this joint exercise assumes particular significance in light of the increasing incidence of school-related violence observed both nationally and globally in recent years. In response to this evolving security landscape, RTU continues to exercise institutional vigilance, ensuring that appropriate measures are in place to safeguard the welfare of its academic community. Through such proactive and collaborative undertakings, the University reaffirms that campus security remains a foremost institutional priority in sustaining an uninterrupted, quality learning environment for all Rizalianos.
