RTU Urban Agriculture Research and Development Unit Receives Recognition for Outstanding Partnership

Rizal Technological University (RTU) received recognition from one of its primary partners in education, Mandaluyong Elementary School (MES), during MES’s State of the School Address and Stakeholders’ Appreciation Day held on August 1, 2025.

The award was presented in acknowledgment of RTU’s invaluable partnership, commitment, and remarkable contribution to the school’s Gulayan sa Paaralan Program. In representation of the University and to receive the award, Director Jovita A. Anit and Mr. Norberto Bautista of the Urban Agriculture Research and Development Unit (UARDU) were present at the event.

The partnership between RTU and MES, through UARDU, began in 2023 under the Urban Agriculture in the Barangay Project. As one of the recipient schools, MES benefited from planting structures and specialized training provided by UARDU, equipping the school with sustainable gardening resources and expertise.

This collaboration played a key role in MES’s success, culminating in the school’s victory as Champion of the Best Gulayan sa Paaralan Program – Regional Level (NCR). MES Principal, Dr. Jocelyn N. Tamayo, presented the recognition to RTU, expressing deep appreciation for the RTU’s steadfast support in promoting food security, environmental stewardship, and agricultural education among students.

RTU continues to advance its mission of fostering community partnerships that encourage sustainable urban farming practices, affirming the University’s role as a catalyst for innovation and social impact.
