The Rizal Technological University (RTU) Psychology Department proudly achieved a significant milestone at the 1st ASEAN Conference on Extension for Sustainable Development Goals (ACES), held on November 29, 2025, at the City Tourism Hall in Cagayan de Oro City.
The department’s flagship extension project, “DSWD Ina Healing Center: Grief and Bereavement Intervention Program,” was honored with 3rd Place – Outstanding Asian SDG Project under the People Category. The recognition came after a rigorous selection process that began with 50 registrants, narrowed to 30 shortlisted projects, and eventually culminated in the Top 10 finalists.
The project was presented by Ms. Russelle Ane A. Dela Cruz and Ms. Mary Beth C. Miranda, who represented RTU with excellence and professionalism. Their presentation highlighted the program’s impact in offering psychological support, healing sessions, and structured interventions for individuals and families coping with grief and loss at the DSWD Ina Healing Center.
As part of the honor, the presenters received a Plaque of Recognition and a ₱5,000 cash prize.
This achievement stands as a testament to the RTU Psychology Department’s strong commitment to community engagement and mental health advocacy, showcasing the university’s dedication to producing sustainable, people-centered extension programs. The recognition also underscores the department’s active role in advancing the Sustainable Development Goals through meaningful, high-impact service.
The project’s success further strengthens RTU’s mission to uplift communities—true to the spirit of its extension thrust: “Mula sa Komunidad, Para sa Komunidad.”
