Proyektong Kalinga: PDL – Pahingahang handog para sa dormitoryo ng lalaki sa BJMP-Mandaluyong

In a heartwarming display of compassion and community spirit, Rizal Technological University (RTU), through the Extension and Community Services Center (ECSC), spearheaded a benevolent initiative titled “PROYEKTONG KALINGA: PDL – PAHINGAHANG HANDOG PARA SA DORMITORYO NG LALAKI SA BJMP-MANDALUYONG”. This project was orchestrated to provide much-needed comfort to Persons Deprived of Liberty (PDL) housed in the Male Dormitory of the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) in Mandaluyong City on November 17.

The focal point of this altruistic endeavor was the provision of yoga mats to serve as bedding for the individuals currently in detention. Recognizing the significance of even the smallest gestures in enhancing the quality of life for those facing challenging circumstances, the project aimed to bring solace and a sense of care to the male inmates.

Generosity poured in from various corners of RTU, showcasing a unity of purpose and a commitment to social responsibility. The College of Arts and Sciences, College of Education, Junior and Senior High School, College of Business Entrepreneurship and Accountancy, Institute of Human Kinetics, RTU-Pasig Campus, along with the invaluable contributions of Dr. Corleto R. Bravo, Dean of the College of Engineering and Architecture, Dr. Corazon Austria, Pasig Campus Director, and other officials, joined hands to make this project a reality.

A remarkable total of 214 yoga mats were successfully collected, a testament to the generosity and empathy within the RTU community. The RTU-ECSC played a pivotal role in orchestrating the seamless collection of these mats, ensuring that each piece would contribute to the well-being of the male inmates at BJMP-Mandaluyong.

The primary beneficiaries of this thoughtful donation are the male inmates, individuals whose lives are currently intertwined with the challenges of detention. The yoga mats provided will not only serve as practical bedding but also symbolize the care and concern of a community that recognizes the importance of compassion in fostering positive change.

This initiative stands as a shining example of how educational institutions, when united in purpose, can extend their influence beyond academia, making a tangible and meaningful impact on the lives of those in need. This outreach program reflects the core values of empathy, community service, and social responsibility that are integral to the mission of the university.
