RTU Strengthens International Collaboration with Temasek Polytechnic in Singapore

Rizal Technological University (RTU) further advanced its internationalization agenda with a strategic visit to Temasek Polytechnic in Singapore on August 7, 2026, to explore stronger academic cooperation and potential joint initiatives between the two institutions.

Representing RTU were Assoc. Prof. Donato Z. Estocada, Director of the International Affairs and Linkages Office (IALO), and Dr. Mark Joseph DL Santos, Director of the Institute of Human Kinetics (IHK). The RTU delegation was warmly welcomed by Dr. Lim Teng Leng, Dean of International Relations of Temasek Polytechnic, together with Mr. Leslie Chen, Senior Lecturer, International Relations-Centre for Transcultural Studies, who engaged the RTU team in a productive discussion on opportunities for institutional collaboration.

The meeting focused on developing meaningful and sustainable partnerships that can enhance the international exposure of both institutions. Among the potential areas discussed were faculty and student exchange programs, internationalization training and capacity-building, and other academic initiatives that can strengthen global competencies among faculty members, students, and university personnel.

The proposed faculty and student exchange initiatives are envisioned to provide participants with opportunities to experience different academic environments, share knowledge and practices, and develop intercultural competencies. Meanwhile, internationalization training was identified as a strategic area for collaboration to strengthen institutional capacity in developing globally oriented programs, partnerships, and services.

For RTU, the engagement with Temasek Polytechnic supports its continuing aspiration to become a smart and transnational university, where international partnerships contribute directly to teaching and learning, research, innovation, community engagement, and institutional development.

The visit also reflects RTU’s commitment to establishing partnerships that generate measurable and sustainable institutional impact, particularly in support of internationalization and the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

The August 7 engagement marks another important step in RTU’s continuing efforts to expand its international network and transform partnerships into concrete programs, measurable outcomes, and lasting impact for its students, faculty, and the wider academic community.
