RTU Dormitory Services Offices Gathered Student-Athlete Residents for General Assembly and Orientation

Rizal Technological University’s (RTU) Dormitory Services Office (DSO) successfully hosted a General Assembly and Orientation for the University’s dormitory residents, mainly student-athletes, on October 22, 2023. The event, held at the Penthouse of RTU SNAGAH Building, provided crucial information and fostered community among the university’s student-residents. The assembly served as an essential welcome and guide for those living in the university dormitories, ensuring they were well-acquainted with the facilities, rules, and support systems available.

The program opened with the insightful remarks from Ms. Ma. Llyssa O. Bulagmir, DSO Staff, and an inspirational message from Assoc. Prof. Marie Joy C. Jorduela, Chief Administrative Officer of the Business Resource Generation and Auxiliary Services Office.

Asst. Prof. Margarita D. Conclara, DSO Director, provided an overview of dormitory services. She elaborated on the rules and regulations of the dormitories, providing reminders of prohibited acts while under the care of Pandayang Rizalia and the DSO. Considered as “the mother” of student-athletes under her care, Asst. Prof. Conclara showed her concern for the student-residents by reassuring the students that the DSO will perform its best for the benefit of all Rizalianos. An open forum allowed residents to voice concerns and ask questions, fostering a culture of feedback and transparency among the stakeholders of RTU’s dormitories.

Dr. Alfred N. Potenciano, a consultant and former Head of the Health Services Unit, lectured on first aid response for minor injuries, providing the student residents with substantial knowledge in administering initial care. Dr. Potenciano’s discussion promotes the students’ health, safety, and well-being, ensuring that the student residents remain aware of health and safety precautions. He also gave tips on avoiding common diseases and keeping oneself healthy.

Finally, Ms. Ellen Joy Latina and Atty. Jett Ilaya Chuaquico discussed the Contract of Agreement. They provided an elaborate and accurate explanation of the stipulations and provisions of the Contract that the students will sign as confirmation of their consent and agreement with the rules, regulations, and terms of service of the Dormitory Services.

Pandayang Rizalia remains deeply committed to supporting its students, particularly those residing in its dormitories. Through events like the General Assembly and Orientation, RTU ensures that its student residents, including its dedicated student-athletes, receive the necessary guidance, resources, and a safe, nurturing environment to thrive academically and personally. The university continually strives to enhance the dormitory experience, fostering a sense of belonging and community, and providing comprehensive support services that contribute to every student’s holistic development and success.
