The Rizal Technological University (RTU) Student Record Admission Unit (SRAU) actively participated at the 13th National Convention and Seminar-Workshop of the National Association of Registrars of State Universities and Colleges, Inc. (NARSUC), held from March 5 to 7, 2025, at the Citystate Asturias Hotel in Puerto Princesa, Palawan. The convention gathered registrars from state universities and colleges across the Philippines to discuss advancements and standardization in academic records management.
Spearheading the RTU delegation was Mrs. Ma. del Carmen G. Labong, University Registrar and Head of the SRAU Boni Campus, alongside Dr. Maria Teresa R. Beloy, Head of SRAU Pasig Branch, and Instr. Elizabeth E. Erguiza, Evaluator from SRAU Boni. Their participation reinforced RTU’s unwavering commitment to elevating registration systems and academic record management practices.
The convention commenced with a welcome message from Dr. Ramon M. Docto, President of Palawan State University. Ms. Edwina O. Roderos, NARSUC Secretary, acknowledged the participants, while Ms. Sheila M. Matias, NARSUC President, set the convention’s tone with her inspiring opening remarks.
A highlight of the event was the keynote address by Dr. J. Prospero E. De Vera III, Chairperson of the Commission on Higher Education (CHED), who addressed the evolving challenges in higher education registration systems. Complementing this was a comprehensive presentation on “Legal Issues and Concerns in Registrarship” by Atty. Joseph Noel M. Estrada, offering essential legal insights for enhancing registration frameworks.
The RTU representatives actively participated in the “Crafting of the Registrar’s Handbook” workshop, led by Engr. Jerico M. Padrones and moderated by Mr. Carlos Alfonso C. Salvador. This hands-on session aligned with RTU’s ongoing initiatives to refine its registration procedures and documentation systems.
By sending a strong delegation to this national convention, RTU demonstrated its dedication to staying at the forefront of developments in academic record management and student registration systems. The knowledge and connections gained by the SRAU team are expected to contribute significantly to ongoing improvements in RTU’s registration processes, ultimately benefiting the university’s student population through more efficient and legally sound administrative procedures.
