Student Regent Convenes Rizalianos to Deliberate Student Manual Revisions

Gathering students across the various colleges and institutes, the Office of the Student Regent (OSR), under Ms. Zildjian Faith Salazar, Student Council President and Student Regent of Rizal Technological University (RTU), led the review of the current student manual and the deliberation to propose amendments to select provisions of the manual. The assembly was held at the University Plenary Hall on February 5, 2026, providing a platform for students to articulate and debate the policies applied to Rizalianos.

Divided into three (3) clusters, a total of 188 student volunteers from the College of Business, Entrepreneurship and Accountancy; College of Arts and Science; College of Education; College of Engineering; Institute of Architecture; Institute of Computer Studies; and Institute of Human Kinetics actively participated in the proceedings, ensuring that all academic bodies are represented in the parliament.

During the discussions, 34 motions were raised, of which 29 were approved by the body. This includes key amendments, such as allowing students to freely choose their NSTP program, reinstating the previous Latin Honor standards, removal of mandatory uniform policy, offering summer classes, and other student-centered policy changes.

While the Board of Regents must still approve these proposed amendments and changes to the student manual, the efforts of the student body will be echoed by the Student Regent, bolstering dialogue between the governing body of RTU and the Rizaliano student body.

The assembled parliament, supported by the University administration through the Student and Alumni Services Unit, is a testament to the thriving democracy at RTU, demonstrating the University’s commitment to providing a safe space for student participation in policymaking through student-led democratic processes.
