Generation of Unity: Senior High Rizalianos Conclude Secondary Education Journey at 8th Commencement Exercises

A joyous day of June 24, 2025, marks the end of the secondary education journey of Rizalianos from Rizal Technological University’s (RTU) College of Education-Senior High School Department (CEd-SHS). Held at Mandaluyong City College of Science and Technology Gymnasium, the 8th commencement exercise of CEd-SHS celebrated the graduation of 275 senior high school students from various academic strands, with the theme “Generation of Unity: Partners for the New Philippines”.

Echoing a popular adage, “All good things must come to an end,” Dr. Wendelyn Samarita, Dean of CEd, addressed the graduating class in her welcoming speech. She emphasized that endings are not always negative, but rather an opportunity to welcome greater things. Despite this year’s graduates being the last batch of the SHS program in RTU, Dr. Samarita expressed her unwavering confidence that the nine years of the program have produced graduates who will continue its legacy.

In her congratulatory message to the graduates, University President Dr. Ma. Eugenia M. Yangco, emphasized the graduates’ resilience in overcoming challenges in their academic journey. She reminded the graduates to celebrate their graduation not just for finishing their academic requirements but also for the kind of person they have become as a result: stronger, more persistent, smarter, and more well-rounded. Dr. Yangco further advised the graduating Rizalianos that their success shall not only be for themselves, but also for the Filipino nation, echoing the theme of unity for a new and better Philippines.

Adding more to the event, Ms. Aallhiex R. Escarta, an RTU alumnus, comes home to give an inspiring message to her fellow Rizalianos, highlighting the message of unity and self-identity. According to her, if one is to participate in the efforts for a unified society, one must look within themselves and recognize their identity. She further implored the graduating class to use their intelligence and excellence in contributing to the betterment of society and the country.

As Dr. Samarita had said, the graduates are living proof of the success of the SHS program in RTU, proving that Pandayang Rizalia was able to produce future leaders and professionals who will lead the nation. In nine years, RTU SHS wholly embodied the values and principles of Pandayang Rizalia, exemplifying excellence in the different fields of knowledge. The university stands proud of SHS Batch 2025, the College of Education, and the faculty members who guided the Rizaliano graduates.
