RTU’s Bachelor of Engineering Technology Major in Mechatronics Earns Certificate of Program Compliance from CHED

Rizal Technological University (RTU) has received the Certificate of Program Compliance (COPC) for its Bachelor of Engineering Technology major in Mechatronics, awarded by the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) in a formal ceremony held on March 31, 2026, at the CHED Central Office in Quezon City. The recognition constitutes official affirmation by the national higher education authority that the program meets the established standards of academic quality and curricular compliance set forth for engineering technology programs in the Philippines.

The COPC was formally conferred by CHED Commissioner and RTU Board of Regents Chairperson Dr. Ricmar P. Aquino and received by RTU President Dr. Ma. Eugenia M. Yangco, accompanied by members of the University’s Board of Regents. The conferment underscores the Commission’s collaborative governance role in ensuring that state universities and colleges operate programs that are responsive to national development goals and internationally recognized academic standards.

The College of Engineering’s Mechatronics major is an interdisciplinary engineering technology program that integrates principles from mechanical systems, electronics, computer science, and automation. The program prepares graduates for careers in industrial automation, smart manufacturing, robotics, and emerging fields at the intersection of hardware and software systems—domains increasingly central to the country’s goal of advancing its technological and industrial base.

The conferment of the COPC marks a formal milestone in RTU’s ongoing institutional effort to offer programs that not only comply with regulatory requirements but are also responsive to industry demands and aligned with global educational benchmarks. The recognition validates the sustained work of RTU’s faculty, academic administrators, and technical staff in developing and maintaining a curriculum that reflects current engineering technology practice.

The recognition aligns with RTU’s institutional direction toward becoming a smart and transnational university. This vision encompasses not only expanding academic offerings but also elevating program quality through regulatory accreditation, industry partnerships, and internationalization initiatives.

The College of Engineering continues to pursue program development and enhancement strategies aligned with CHED’s policies on higher education quality assurance.

The issuance of the COPC for the CENG Mechatronics program adds to RTU’s growing portfolio of quality-assured academic programs. It reflects the University’s enduring commitment to the highest standards of engineering technology education in service of the nation.
