Rizal Technological University (RTU) reaffirmed its commitment to academic excellence and quality assurance through its active participation in the 39th Annual National Conference and General Assembly of the Accrediting Agency of Chartered Colleges and Universities in the Philippines (AACCUP), held from March 24 to 26, 2026, at Century Park Hotel, Manila.
Anchored on the theme “Advancing QA: Research, Science, and Technology for Transformative Education and Sustainable Development,” the conference convened higher education leaders, accreditors, and quality assurance practitioners nationwide.
The RTU delegation was headed by Dr. Jack Robert Zablan, Director of the Quality Assurance Office (QAO), together with Dr. Kristine Y. Opulencia, Vice President for Academic and Student Affairs (VPASA), and Dr. Magno M. Quendangan, Vice President for Research, Innovation, and Extension Services (VPRIES).
The university was further represented by faculty members, deans, and directors who also serve as AACCUP accreditors, demonstrating RTU’s strong and continuing contribution to national quality assurance efforts.
During the three-day event, RTU delegates actively engaged in plenary sessions, research presentations, and panel discussions that focused on enhancing accreditation systems, strengthening institutional quality frameworks, and promoting collaboration across higher education institutions. Sessions highlighted the integration of research, science, and technology in advancing teaching, learning, and institutional performance.
Distinguished speakers and leaders in higher education graced the conference, including Dr. Shirley C. Agrupis, Chairperson of the Commission on Higher Education (CHED), who delivered the keynote address, emphasizing the critical role of quality assurance in achieving transformative, globally competitive education. Also present were Dr. Milabel E. Ho, Executive Director of AACCUP, and Dr. Anthony M. Penaso, President of the AACCUP Board of Trustees, who underscored ongoing accreditation initiatives and institutional best practices among state universities and colleges.
RTU’s participation in the conference reflects its steadfast commitment to continuous quality improvement, academic excellence, and alignment with national and international standards. With a strong pool of certified accreditors within its ranks, the University continues to play a vital role in advancing quality assurance practices in Philippine higher education.
