On February 4, 2026, Rizal Technological University’s (RTU) Research and Development Group participated in the cluster meeting with the Southern Tagalog Agriculture, Aquatic, and Resources Research Development and Extension Consortium (STAARRDEC) and the Annual Report Writeshop organized by the consortium.
The RTU delegation, comprising representatives from the Technology Development, Transfer, and Commercialization Unit (TDTCU), the Intellectual Property Management Office (IPMO), and the Research, Development, and Innovation Office (RDIO), consisting of Asst. Prof. Nida V. Alcantara, Engr. Diomel Gillesana, Ms. Klarisse Fei Santos, Mr. James Andrew Imperial, and Ms. Gilliane Dayco then attended the 2026 STAARRDEC Annual Report Writeshop and Cluster Meeting at the STAARRDEC Conference Room, Cavite State University in Indang, Cavite on February 5, 2026.
The discussions highlighted STAARRDEC’s accomplishments, plans, and pending and future projects. The organization maintained transparency, providing financial breakdowns and completion status for each project. In the same meeting, Dr. Almira Magcawas, STAARRDEC’s Consortium Director, called on the member institutions to actively engage with the consortium’s activities and gatherings, has also invited us to be more active in participating in STAARRDEC and its membership institutions’ gatherings, emphasizing the need to promote Southern Tagalog research and development initiatives.
The discussion further underscored the importance of stronger collaboration among member institutions to maximize resources, share expertise, and increase the visibility and impact of regional research outputs. Participants were encouraged to engage in joint projects, capacity-building activities, and knowledge-sharing platforms that support innovation and address the region’s priority concerns.
The meeting concluded with a renewed commitment from the member institutions to support STAARRDEC’s programs and advocacies actively. By fostering active participation and sustained collaboration, STAARRDEC aims to strengthen the research ecosystem in Southern Tagalog further and advance research-driven solutions that contribute to regional and national development.
