In a proactive effort aimed at enriching educational opportunities and community engagement, Rizal Technological University (RTU) leaders boarded a courtesy visit to Pasig City Mayor Hon. Victor Ma. Regis “Vico” Sotto on April 30, 2024.
Led by Dr. Ma Eugenia M. Yangco, University President, the RTU management, including Dr. Rodolfo L. Ducut, Vice President for Finance and Administration (VPFA), and Dr. Corazon D. Austria, Chancellor of the RTU Pasig Branch, convened for discussions with Mayor Sotto. Also present were the newly appointed RTU Pasig branch executives, namely Dr. Kristoffer M. Morada, Vice-Chancellor for Academic and Student Affairs (VCASA), Dr. Eugenia G. Samarista, Vice-Chancellor for Finance and Administration (VCFA), Assoc. Prof. Jason A. Romero, Vice-Chancellor for Research, Innovation, and Extension Services (VCRIES), and Assoc. Prof. Nino P. Maliban, Vice-Chancellor for Planning, Quality Assurance, and Strategic Initiatives (VPQASI).
The primary agenda of the meeting was to strengthen the collaborative ties between RTU and the local government of Pasig City, particularly in the realms of infrastructure development, research, and extension services.
Discussions revolved around proposed infrastructure projects aimed at enhancing the learning environment for students at the RTU Pasig Branch. Furthermore, both parties explored avenues for partnership to advance research initiatives and outreach programs within the community.
Mayor Sotto expressed his support for RTU’s initiatives, emphasizing the vital role of education in driving progress. He reiterated the city’s commitment to working hand-in-hand with academic institutions for the betterment of learners and the community at large.
The meeting culminated in a mutual agreement to sustain dialogue and explore further opportunities for collaboration between RTU and the Pasig LGU. Both parties expressed optimism regarding the potential positive impact of such partnerships on the community, echoing a shared vision of fostering inclusive growth and sustainable development.
