RTU IIT Strengthens BIndTech Program Through Strategic Benchmarking at BulSU CIT

On March 10, 2026, Rizal Technological University-Institute of Industrial Technology (RTU-IIT) conducted a benchmarking activity at the Bulacan State University (BulSU) College of Industrial Technology (CIT). The activity served as a strategic effort to gather insights and best practices to strengthen the Bachelor of Industrial Technology (BIndTech) program and ensure its alignment with national standards and industry requirements.

Led by the Director of IIT, Dr. Nilmar I. Moreno, along with the program head of BulSU’s CIT, Mr. Arnold M. Santos, and various department coordinators, the engagement began with a coordination meeting where faculty members and administrators from BulSU presented the history and development of their College. The discussion covered essential aspects of program management, including curriculum design and the implementation of technical courses. A significant focus of the meeting was maintaining strong alignment among State Universities and Colleges (SUCs), the Commission on Higher Education (CHED), and the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) to ensure the quality and relevance of industrial education.

During the session, BulSU representatives shared their institutional best practices, particularly regarding their established international industry partnerships. They highlighted how these collaborations enhance the program’s global competitiveness and provide students with better career opportunities. The exchange provided the RTU delegation with a clearer understanding of how to bridge the gap between academic instruction and actual industry needs.

The benchmarking activity also included an extensive tour of BulSU’s specialized laboratories and learning facilities. The RTU delegation visited several specialization-specific areas, including Food Processing Technology, Electrical Technology, Electronics Technology, and Automotive Technology. This tour allowed the visiting director and coordinators to observe the host institution’s modern equipment, facility layouts, and instructional setups.

The visit concluded with a shared commitment to academic excellence and continuous improvement. By benchmarking against the established processes and facilities of BulSU, the RTU Institute of Industrial Technology gained valuable perspectives that will be utilized to enhance its own BIndTech program and further develop its laboratory capabilities for the benefit of its students.

The knowledge-sharing initiative is a step towards a strengthened Industrial Technology program for Rizalianos. As institutions dedicated to transformative education, both RTU and BulSU are committed to elevating the quality of education in the country through collaboration and knowledge sharing among fellow academic institutions.
