RTU Himig Rizalia wins triple Gold at the Petra Cantare International Choral Festival 

Rizal Technological University (RTU) Himig Rizalia achieved a remarkable feat at the Petra Cantare International Choral Festival in Surabaya, Indonesia on February 22, 2025 and snatched gold trophies in three categories: Folklore, Musica Sacra, and Mixed Open.The competition was organized by Petra Christian University (PCU) Choir, under the auspices of Petra Christian University (PCU) in Surabaya, Indonesia. The event was held from February 17 to 22, 2025, at the university’s Auditorium in buildings W and Q.

The festival featured 50 choir groups from various regions, including Papua, Maluku, Bali, South Sulawesi, East Kalimantan, and international participants from countries like the Philippines. Participants ranged from children and students to general public choirs, all competing in various categories.

Cantare means “to sing” in Italian. According to Aris Sudibyo, Director of the Pusat Pengembangan Musik Gereja (PPMG) Peetra Christian University, they believe that music is a universal language that can touch the hearts and souls that can build human connections and bring happiness and peace and said to improve the quality of human life.

This achievement was made possible through the dedication of Himig Rizalia, under the leadership of Cultural Affairs Unit (CAU) Boni Campus Director, Evelyn N. Dagami, and the guidance of conductor Renier M. Aguilar.
