Rizal Technological University (RTU) played a vital role in the conduct of the 2025 National and Local Elections as it hosted the official voting precincts for Barangay Barangka Itaas and Barangay Malamig. Selected classrooms in the Old Building of the university were designated as polling stations, accommodating thousands of registered voters from the two barangays.
To ensure that the precincts were secure, orderly, and fully prepared, RTU administrative personnel were on-site as early as the day before the elections. The preparations were spearheaded by Dr. Maria Isabel L. Dizon, Chief Administrative Officer, alongside Instr. Emmanuel L. Taruc, Director of the General Services Office and Disaster Risk Management Office, and Mr. Karlo Antonio A. Catindig, Head of the Civil Security Office. They were joined by key personnel from various support units, including the Electrical and Plumbing teams—sub-units under the Building and Facilities Management Unit. Also present were Asst. Prof. Jerome A. Sison, Supervising Administrative Officer, and Mr. Gerald V. Daguplo, PR Associate from the University Public Affairs Office.
In anticipation of any health or emergency concerns, the Barangka Itaas Fire and Rescue unit was also deployed on-site, working in close coordination with the RTU Health Services Unit to provide medical assistance as needed. Their presence ensured that voters, especially senior citizens and persons with disabilities, received immediate care when necessary. RTU’s continued service to the community by supporting national initiatives like this election reflects its commitment to civic responsibility and nation-building.
