In a step towards sustainable agricultural innovation and food systems transformation, Rizal Technological University (RTU) convened an exploratory meeting with the Department of Agriculture–Bureau of Agricultural Research (DA-BAR) and BauerTek Farmaceutical Technologies at the DA-BAR Office in Quezon City. The high-level engagement signals a shared commitment in bridging research, technology, and practice through the proposed development of a Farm-to-Food Facility in Baras, Rizal, utilizing RTU’s strategic land assets.
The RTU delegation was led by Dr. Magno M. Quendangan, Vice President for Research, Innovation, and Extension Services (VPRIES), reflecting the university’s proactive role in translating knowledge into tangible societal impact. Representing BauerTek was Engr. Richard Nixon Gomez, Founder and CEO, whose expertise in agri-engineering and smart agricultural systems brings a critical technological dimension to the initiative. Meanwhile, Dir. Joel Lalles of DA-BAR spearheaded the government’s participation, underscoring the agency’s mandate to advance science-based agriculture and rural development.
As the exploratory talks progress, all three institutions have committed to further technical consultations, feasibility assessments, and collaborative planning. The proposed Farm-to-Food Facility in Baras stands as a bold step toward a future where agriculture is not only productive but also sustainable, inclusive, and innovation-driven.
This initiative exemplifies a forward-looking partnership—one that envisions resilient food systems, empowered communities, and a university that leads change beyond the classroom and into the fields that feed the nation.
