November 26, 2024 – A landmark partnership between Rizal Technological University (RTU) and Maker’s Asylum, a global community and innovation hub, was formalized today through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) via Zoom virtual meeting. The collaboration, aimed at advancing the university’s efforts to integrate the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) into its curriculum and campus activities, marks a significant milestone in RTU’s commitment to innovation, education, and sustainability.
The MOU signing was attended by prominent members of the RTU leadership, including Dr. Ma. Eugenia M. Yangco, University President, Dr. Salvacion J. Pachejo, VP for Planning, Quality Assurance and Strategic Initiatives (VPPQASI), Dr. Magno M. Quendangan, VP for Research, Innovation, and Extension Services (VPRIES), and Mr. Donato Z. Estocada, Director of the International Affairs and Linkages Office (IALO).
Representing Maker’s Asylum, Mr. Vaibhav Chhabra, Founder and Chief Learning Officer, was present to sign the agreement and discuss the shared vision for future collaboration.
At the heart of this partnership is a shared vision to further the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) within the university’s operations and academic programs. Through the establishment of the SDG School, a new initiative at RTU, the collaboration aims to foster innovation, research, and practical solutions that directly contribute to achieving the global goals, particularly those related to sustainable innovation, technology, education, and industry.
The partnership will see the integration of Maker’s Asylum’s cutting-edge resources, including its innovation labs and community-driven model, with RTU’s existing academic framework. This will provide students, faculty, and researchers with unique opportunities to engage in hands-on learning, interdisciplinary collaboration, and impactful projects that align with the SDGs.
The MOU signing is a promise of greater collaboration and impact for the future—one that will benefit not only the RTU community but also contribute to the global movement toward a more sustainable, equitable, and innovative world.
