Rizalianos in SoKor? RTU and Gimcheon University Ink MOU for Student and Faculty Exchange Programs

Rizal Technological University (RTU) took another step towards increased international collaboration after signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Gimcheon University. The MOU signing, spearheaded by the International Affairs and Linkages Office (IALO), establishes a collaborative relationship between the two universities and focuses on potential student and faculty exchange programs.

The meeting was attended by key RTU Officials including Dr. Kristine Y. Opulencia, Vice President for Academic and Student Affairs (VPASA),  and Assoc. Prof. Donato Z. Estocada, IALO Director. They were joined by Dr. Rodrigo DP. Tomas, Dean of the Office of Student and Alumni Affairs Services; Dr. Rome Sherriff Montoya, Dean of the College of Business, Entrepreneurship, and Accountancy, Dr. Mark Joseph Santos, Director of the Institute of Human Kinetics, and Instr. Michael Ivan Mendiola, IALO Unit Head for Mobility Programs.

Gimcheon University was represented by Prof. Yoon Jong Soo, Dean of the Office of Planning, who introduced the extensive expertise of their institution. Rev. Nam Kyung Hun, President of International Youth Foundation (IYF) Philippines, and Rev. Lee Chung Hak, IYF Andong Director, served as intermediaries between the universities.

The collaboration meeting focused on discussing plans for future student and faculty exchange programs, aiming to provide global learning opportunities for students from both institutions. Beyond student exchange programs, the parties discussed possible collaborations on cultural exchange, collaborative conference, and other academic initiatives.

With this collaborative partnership, RTU strengthens its position in creating more opportunities for Rizalianos beyond its campuses and even the country. Together with Gimcheon University and with IYF’s assistance, Rizalianos are poised to receive a South Korean education experience.
