Rizal Technological University (RTU) marks another significant partnership towards inclusive education as University Extensionists signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) with the Department of Education-Division of Mandaluyong City (DepEd-Mandaluyong) to bolster the Division’s Alternative Learning System (ALS) with an RTU-led extension program, titled “BE ALERT: Alternative Learning Extension For Review And Tutoring.”
Held on January 19, 2026, at the ALS Center, Senate President Neptali A. Gonzales Integrated School, Mandaluyong City, the signing ceremony was led by RTU Vice President for Research, Innovation, and Extension Services (VPRIES) Dr. Magno M. Quendangan and DepEd-Mandaluyong Schools Division Superintendent Dr. Romela M. Cruz, CESO V. Dr. Quendangan was joined by Dr. Rizaldy Garcia, Director of RTU University Review and Related Instruction Office (URRIO) and Project Leader, and Dr. Jennis N. Articona, Official Liaison between the University and DepEd Mandaluyong, to sign the agreement while Dr. Cruz was joined by Ms. Jovy D. Balbuena, Education Program Supervisor, and Dr. Alyn G. Mendoza, Chief of the Curriculum Implementation Division. Other University Extensionists also stood as witnesses to the momentous signing ceremony.
The new partnership agreement between the two institutions is poised to set a new avenue for alternative learning for Mandaluyong City residents. The BE ALERT Extension Program is to augment the Mandaluyong City ALS, elevating the system to a higher level of teaching and learning. With the expertise of the University Extensionists, who are also active faculty members in RTU, the ALS students in Mandaluyong City will receive a stronger education.
Continuously, RTU and its extensionists do not cease in making an impact outside the campus. As the needs of communities grow more urgent, the University responds to the call to collaborate in alleviating the plight of the people.
