Entrepreneurship Students’ Product Innovations and Ventures Showcased at Galyong Bughaw: Ikaapat na Layag

In a celebration of innovation, creativity, and entrepreneurial spirit, the Department of Entrepreneurship of Rizal Technological University successfully held “Galyong Bughaw 2024: Ikaapat na Layag” on May 7, 2025, at Greenfield Central Park, EDSA Central Ave., Shaw Blvd., Mandaluyong City. With the theme “From Sailors to Riders: An Age of Innovation,” the event featured student-led business pitches and product showcases that highlighted the next wave of potential Filipino entrepreneurs.

Organized annually by the Bachelor of Science in Entrepreneurship program under the College of Business, Entrepreneurship and Accountancy (CBEA), the event was held under the leadership of CBEA Dean, Dr. Kathryn D. Tria, and Program Chair, Instructor Cyrille Anne Rafael, MBA. The fair is designed to help students pitch viable business ideas and market their products to potential investors, aligning with RTU’s commitment to developing innovation-driven business leaders of the future.

Culminating in a business pitching competition, this year’s Galyong Bughaw recognized the most promising ventures:

  • Champion – Gintong Balangay Award: Purely Fruity
  • 1st Runner-Up – Pinilakang Balangay Award: Fishtastic Tocino
  • 2nd Runner-Up – Tansong Balangay Award: Fabulux
  • Best Speaker – Unang Umalohokan Award: Jhesthony S. Payno

The event drew strong support from faculty, student investors, alumni, and industry partners who were impressed by the participants’ ability to connect real-world market needs with sustainable and innovative solutions. It marked yet another milestone for RTU’s entrepreneurship program as it continues to bridge academic knowledge with practical business experience — empowering students not just to dream, but to launch and lead.
