Rizal Technological University (RTU) continues to advance its commitment to sustainable innovation and community development as it hosted the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) and BauerTek Farmaceutical Technologies for a site visit at its Baras property for the proposed Farm-to-Food Facility Project.
The visit was led by DOST Regional Director Emelita P. Bagsit, accompanied by Ms. Una Grace Dollete, Officer-in-Charge, together with officials from Bauertek Farmaceutical Technologies, headed by its CEO, Engr. Richard Nixon Gomez, alongside Rigel Gomez and Samuel Jericho Gomez.
Assoc. Prof. Donato Z. Estocada, Director of the International Affairs and Linkages Office (IALO), led the university team in facilitating discussions and showcasing the site’s development potential.
The Farm-to-Food Facility Project aims to integrate agriculture, technology, and food processing systems to create a sustainable value chain from local farm production to food innovation and distribution. The initiative is envisioned to support local farmers, enhance food security, and promote research-driven solutions in agri-food systems.
During the visit, stakeholders assessed the site’s suitability for the facility and discussed collaborative opportunities in research, technology transfer, and capacity-building programs. The project is expected to serve as a hub for innovation, bridging academia, government, and industry to generate inclusive and sustainable growth.
Assoc. Prof. Estocada highlighted the importance of multi-sectoral collaboration in driving impactful projects. “This initiative demonstrates how partnerships can transform resources into sustainable solutions that directly benefit communities,” he shared.
Beyond infrastructure development, the project is expected to create long-term impact by empowering local communities, generating livelihood opportunities, and fostering sustainable agricultural practices.
Through initiatives like the Farm-to-Food Facility, RTU reinforces its role as a catalyst for sustainable development, leveraging education, research, and partnerships to deliver solutions that address real-world challenges.
