COSTRAPHIL Hosts First Luzon Regional Convention on Mastering Stenography w/ RTU BS Office Admin Faculty Members as Resource Facilitators

The Court Stenographers of the Philippines (COSTRAPHIL) successfully concluded its inaugural Luzon Regional Convention at The International Convention Center in Tagaytay City on May 22-23, 2025. The two-day event, themed “Empowering Court Stenography for Judicial Innovation,” brought together court stenographers from across the Luzon region to enhance their professional skills and advance the field of judicial transcription.

The training program was led by distinguished faculty members from Rizal Technological University (RTU) College of Business, Entrepreneurship, and Accountancy (CBEA) BS Office Administration Dept., demonstrating the strong partnership between academic institutions and judicial professionals. The resource persons included Assoc. Prof. Rosa F. Diestro, Asst. Prof. Marie Joy C. Jorduela, Instr. Ma. Victoria C. Painaga, and Instr. Marvin A. Fuentes, all recognized experts in stenographic education and practice.

The convention centered on “The Court of Precision: Mastery of Art of Stenography, Enhancing Accuracy and Speed in Transcription,” emphasizing the critical role of stenographers in maintaining accurate judicial records. The comprehensive program featured intensive training sessions designed to refine stenographic techniques and improve transcription efficiency within the Philippine court system.

The convention’s workshop component provided participants with hands-on experience in shorthand refresher techniques, addressing the evolving demands of modern court reporting. These sessions were structured to accommodate stenographers at various skill levels, from seasoned professionals seeking to update their techniques to newer practitioners looking to strengthen their foundational skills.

As COSTRAPHIL’s first regional convention for Luzon, this event establishes a precedent for ongoing professional development initiatives within the organization. The collaboration with RTU faculty members highlights the importance of academic-professional partnerships in advancing stenographic standards across the Philippine judicial system.

The successful completion of this convention positions COSTRAPHIL to continue expanding its regional training programs, potentially serving as a model for similar initiatives in other regions of the Philippines. The focus on judicial innovation suggests that future conventions will continue to address emerging technologies and methodologies in court reporting.
