Mechatronics Students Clinch 3rd Place and Medallion of Excellence at WorldSkills Philippines-NCR 2026

Mechatronics Engineering (MXE) students from Rizal Technological University (RTU) participated in the WorldSkills Philippines-NCR 2026 competitions, held on May 25-29, with the team of Jenine Cabrera and James Sigfried Carls finishing in 3rd Place and the team of John Michael Medredo and Dyne Calvin Frades bringing home a Medallion of Excellence in the Mechatronics category.

Cabrera and Carls represented the Human Resource Development Center (HRDC), a TESDA Technology Institution, while Medredo and Frades stood for Erovoutika Robotics and Automation, a TESDA-accredited training provider.

Out of 8 teams and a total of 16 competitors, the MXE students have proven their mechatronics skills imparted by RTU and honed by the organizations they represented.

WorldSkills Philippines is the official arm of the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) that facilitates local skills competitions in the country and manages the Philippines’ participation in international skills competitions. This year’s competitions held the theme “ONE NCR: Skilled, Dynamic, and Future-Ready”.

Rizaliano excellence and the strength of RTU’s academic programs shine most during these competitions, proving that Pandayang Rizalia’s education indeed transforms and creates opportunities for the students’ futures. With this accomplishment, Cabrera, Carls, Medredo, and Frades represent the results of RTU’s ongoing efforts to provide quality education to Rizalianos.
