RTU-IA Faculty Joins Tripartite Event to Strengthen Architecture and Construction Education

The faculty members of the Institute of Architecture (IA), led by Ar. Marirose V. Vocal, represented Rizal Technological University (RTU) at the Tripartite Event, which included the Asian Architects in the Academe Assembly 2026, the 51st UAP National Convention, and the Launch of CIAP Document 102 in April. The three events served as opportunities to strengthen the IA’s instruction and maintain the relevance and timeliness of course materials.

The Asian Architects in the Academe Assembly 2026 was hosted by the Philippine Architecture Schools Association (PhilASA), a non-profit organization dedicated to advancing architectural education. PhilASA provides leadership, guidance, and meaningful support to align architecture programs with rapid progress in science and technology, while ensuring they remain responsive to the broader goals of nation-building.

The assembly also featured the United Architects of the Philippines (UAP) International Conference on Architecture Education, where the latest innovations and technology-driven development in architecture and construction were presented by both local and international researchers.

The faculty’s attendance at the 51st UAP National Convention was more than a gathering of the nation’s architects; it was an opportunity for continued growth and development for the IA faculty. The event was integrated with training to provide participants with updated knowledge and recent developments in architecture and construction, ensuring that architects are equipped with the necessary skills and competencies.

Championing learning and enhanced academic instruction, the faculty also participated in the launch of the Construction Industry Authority of the Philippines (CIAP) Document 102 Learning Course Materials for the Academe, an initiative that represents a pivotal advancement in construction education in the Philippines, embedding construction contract literacy into the engineering and architecture curricula of higher education institutions (HEIs). By doing so, it equips future professionals with essential knowledge that connects technical expertise and legal understanding, strengthening the construction industry’s resilience and informed decision-making.

These strategic initiatives reaffirm the Institute’s aim to strengthen the synergy between education and practice by engaging with the academe, convening professionals nationwide, and staying up to date on relevant learning materials. Through these, the IA ensures that architecture remains dynamic, forward-looking, and deeply connected to societal progress – in service of its mission to produce Architects, not just architecture students.
