RTU-BTVTED Partners with SK Central Bicutan to Enhance Creative Competency of Local Youth

Through the extension program titled “BRUSHSTROKES OF CREATIVITY: Empowering Communities through Color and Expression”, the extensionists from Rizal Technological University’s (RTU) Bachelor of Technical-Vocational Teacher Education (BTVTED) Department enhanced the creativity of the youth in Central Bicutan, in collaboration with the Sangguniang Kabataan of Central Bicutan.

The program, spearheaded by Project Leader Instr. Angeline V. Villareal aimed to promote creativity, self-expression, and well-being through an engaging, inclusive artistic activity focused on garment painting.

Student volunteers from the BTVTED Department, majoring in Garments, Fashion, and Design, also supported the program by facilitating sessions and guiding participants throughout the creative process.

Through structured demonstrations and hands-on activities, participants were introduced to the fundamentals of fabric and clothing painting, allowing them to explore artistic techniques even without prior experience in design or visual arts.

The program also provided a relaxing and enjoyable environment where participants could express their creativity while learning practical skills in fashion-related art. It also aimed to help individuals relieve stress through a calming artistic experience and to foster a supportive, collaborative atmosphere for creative exploration.

The activity ultimately achieved its goal of empowering participants by making art accessible and meaningful in the community setting, as the youth participants showcased their outputs at the end of the program.

As society advances with innovation, traditional arts that capture the essence of creativity and culture remain relevant for preserving heritage. As an institution that values culture and the arts through its award-winning cultural groups, RTU is steadfast in its commitment to providing innovative educational solutions grounded in national identity and culture.
