The Extension and Community Services Office, in partnership with the Student and Alumni Affairs Services and the Department of Migrant Workers–National Capital Region (DMW-NCR), conducted the webinar entitled “Career Ready: Spot It, Stop It, Report It! Anti-Illegal Recruitment Webinar for RTU Graduates” on March 6, 2026. The activity was organized for all graduates and graduating students of Rizal Technological University (RTU) to raise awareness about illegal recruitment and help prepare them for the workforce.
The webinar featured Atty. Farhan Jumdain from the DMW–NCR as the resource speaker. During the session, he discussed the concept of illegal recruitment, its common forms and schemes, and the risks it poses to job seekers, particularly those seeking employment abroad. He emphasized the importance of verifying recruitment agencies, being cautious of job offers that require excessive fees, and ensuring that recruitment transactions are conducted through licensed agencies.
Atty. Jumdain also highlighted the DMW’s role in protecting Filipino workers and encouraged participants to remain vigilant and report suspicious recruitment activities to the proper authorities. An open forum was held after the presentation, during which participants were able to ask questions and address concerns related to recruitment and overseas employment.
The webinar successfully provided RTU graduates and graduating students with valuable knowledge on how to identify, avoid, and report illegal recruitment, helping them become more informed and responsible job seekers.
