Pandayang Rizalia Empowers New Records Coordinators with Records Management Seminar

The Records Management Office (RMO) of Rizal Technological University (RTU) successfully conducted a Records Management Awareness Seminar held at the SNAGAH Penthouse, last September 29, 2025. The event was attended by the University’s designated Records Coordinators and members of the Records Management Enhancement Committee (RMEC), who play a vital role in ensuring the proper handling, maintenance, and preservation of institutional records.

Mr. Allyson B. Calapine, Officer-in-Charge of the University of the Philippines Los Baños Records Management Office (UPLB-RMO), served as the resource speaker. Drawing from his expertise and extensive experience, Mr. Calapine provided valuable insights into the fundamentals of records management, emphasizing practical applications and best practices observed in UPLB.

The seminar covered the three major phases of records management:

  1. Records Creation Phase – focusing on identifying records, records creation, and control;
  2. Records Maintenance Phase – discussing mail operations, registration, classification, indexing, filing methods, file plan adoption, and standard filing rules;
  3. Records Disposition Phase – highlighting inventory and appraisal, retention and disposition schedules, disposal of records, and records center operations.

The session concluded with the sharing of UPLB Records Management best practices, which provided participants with concrete examples and strategies for strengthening RTU’s own records management systems.

Through this seminar, the Records Management Office reinforced its commitment to developing efficient, standardized, and compliant records management processes within the University.
