Teatro Rizalia Marks 39 Years of Cultural Excellence and Global Competence

Teatro Rizalia, the official theater group of Rizal Technological University (RTU) under the Cultural Affairs Unit (CAU), celebrated its 39th Anniversary on August 30, 2025, at the Mini Theater of the DLMP Building. With the theme “Enhancing Cultural Prowess: A Professional Development in Globalized Organization,” the event highlighted the group’s continued pursuit of cultural excellence and its role in shaping globally competent professionals.

Led by Asst. Prof. Evelyn Dagami, CAU Head, the celebration gathered all the CAU members in honoring nearly four decades of Teatro Rizalia’s artistic legacy. The group has consistently contributed to RTU’s holistic education by integrating creative expression into academic life.

A key highlight was the keynote speech delivered by Hon. Arvin Manuel R. Villalon, Head of the National Committee on Music (NCCA), Commissioner of the Subcommission on the Arts, and Acting Deputy Director for Museums at the National Museum. His insights underscored the essential role of university-based cultural initiatives in national development and heritage preservation.

The anniversary not only reflected on Teatro Rizalia’s accomplishments but also emphasized the evolving role of university theater in a digital and globalized world. It served as a platform for dialogue on merging traditional performing arts with modern technologies, ensuring continued relevance and accessibility.

As RTU and Teatro Rizalia move forward, the event reaffirmed the university’s commitment to fostering cultural awareness, artistic innovation, and professional development—values that remain vital in today’s interconnected society.
