ABOUT IALO

The International Affairs and Linkages Office  (IALO) of Rizal Technological University serves as the driving force behind the university’s efforts to expand its global reach and foster meaningful international collaborations. Operating under the Office of the President, the Office is responsible for setting the direction for internationalization and ensuring that strategic initiatives are effectively implemented across academic and administrative sectors. Through partnerships, exchange programs, and academic collaborations, the IALO aims to cultivate global competencies among students and faculty while promoting international standards in instruction, research, community engagement, and innovation.

Guided by RTU’s vision to become a SMART and Transnational University, the IALO plays a vital role in integrating international perspectives into the curriculum and institutional practices. It supports the development of smart learning environments, promotes cross-border academic networks, and opens pathways for global mobility. By bridging local excellence with international opportunities, the Office ensures that RTU remains responsive, future-ready, and globally competitive in an interconnected world.

MANDATE

The International Affairs and Linkages Office (IALO) of Rizal Technological University is mandated to lead, coordinate, and implement the university’s internationalization agenda in alignment with its vision of becoming a SMART and Transnational University. The office serves as the strategic hub for establishing and maintaining academic and research linkages with international institutions, government and non-government organizations, and global networks. It is responsible for creating opportunities that foster academic mobility, collaborative research, capacity building, and the international benchmarking of programs and services.

In support of RTU’s commitment to contribute meaningfully to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), the IALO champions initiatives that integrate global sustainability practices into teaching, research, and community engagement. The office also plays a critical role in enhancing the university’s visibility and competitiveness in global rankings and rating systems, such as the Times Higher Education (THE) Impact Rankings and the QS Stars Rating. Through these efforts, the IALO ensures that RTU remains globally relevant and responsive to emerging international trends, while developing globally competent graduates who can lead and innovate in a rapidly evolving world.

GOALS

  1. Explore, establish, and manage linkages with universities and other academic-related institutions and organizations overseas.
  2. Ensure the smooth and efficient implementation of RTU’s responsibilities as outlined in Memoranda of Agreement or Understanding with international institutions and agencies.
  3. Manage the university’s application for global rankings and ratings
  4. Provide information and assist grantees for international academic exchanges, study tours, paper presentations, research, and other similar forums.
  5. Manage international student and faculty exchange programs, coordinating with relevant offices both within and without RTU.
  6. Coordinate and assist with international visits to the campus and other program-relevant places of interest.
  7. Perform other functions as may be assigned by the University President.
