T.A.L.A Astrochats Series of Webinar

Starting the AstroChats Webinar 2020, the audience were thrilled with the discussion of Dr. Marvic Alcantara on Human Anatomy and Physiology in Space. The chat started at 10:00 AM and lasted at 12:00 noon September 12, 2020. The presentation covers the background of human anatomy and physiology. Dr. Alcantara then discussed the impacts of the environment in space to human anatomy and physiology. Especially since there is a lesser gravity effect, thus the fluids can alter at minimal at least the development of human. It was a very interesting topic in the application of medical in astronomy.

Another Saturday, another resource person discussed Materials Science in Space Technology for this episode. Ms. Margareth Custodio from the Center for Astronomy Research and Development shared her knowledge about materials science and its importance in earth and space technology applications. Choosing, evaluating and testing the right components and materials to be used in satellites is very crucial to the overall function, response, and performance of the system. The topic was very timely to the current trends of astronomy in the Philippines.

For the last Astrochatter in September 2020, the Center for Astronomy Research and Development invited an alumnus of the Department of Earth and Space Sciences, Rizal Technological University – Mr. Aldrin Gabuya. Mr. Gabuya is recently employed at the Al Sadeem Observatory, United Arab Emirates who then discussed about the Overview of Observational Astronomy. Probably, one of the most highlighted part of his presentation was about the discussion on practical observational astronomy even at the com forty of the house.
For the next episodes of AstroChats, there will four (4) resource persons for the whole month of October 2020.
