On April 26, 2021, Dr. Edna P. Conwi, the Director of Auxiliary Services Center and Mr. Jayson M. Noveda, Head of Solid Waste Management Unit have successfully defended their project proposal entitled “The Triple S Compost: Significant, Systematic and Sustainable Composting Toward Ecological Community” to the Executive Committee of the Department of Science and Technology -National Capital Region (DOST-NCR). The objective of the project is to improve the solid waste management of the university by promoting modern/technical-driven methodology of waste composting relative to the RTU’s vision as technological University;
This initiative led to the signing of the Memorandum of Agreement last May 20, 2021 between DOST NCR Regional Director Jose B. Patalinjug III and Rizal Technological University President Ma. Eugenia M. Yangco. DOST-NCR provided the University with a motorized dual-drum composter and an organic shredder to help the University through the Solid Waste Management Unit of the Auxiliary Services Center implement the Project for a better sustainable environment within the University.
