We have acquired two new solar telescopes, the Lunt 100-mm Hydrogen Alpha Solar System telescope and the Coronado 90-mm Hydrogen Alpha telescope. They have been used in the solar eclipse last March 9. The Coronado is shown mounted on the Atlas EQ-G mount on the roof deck of the Research and Development Building.
The RizalTech is a major player and contributor to the development of the science of Astronomy in the country in cooperation with the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA). The images of the solar eclipse taken with these telescopes were relayed to the National Astronomical Research Institute of Thailand (NARIT) with whom the RizalTech has a partnership for research and joint studies in Astronomy.
