RTU vs. SLU (basketball women)

Rizal Technological University routed St. Louis Univ. in women’s basketball 71-43 during the first day of the Philippine University Games at the Silliman University gym Friday night.

Aside from displaying their shooting skills, the RTU’s edge over the SLU team showed in the rebounds and three-point shots.

The RTU team started strong with Jamago, Ilustre, Valdez, Quilang and Rodriguez, pulling away early at 22-5 in the first quarter. They took the half at 30-18 and enjoyed a lead as big as 30 before closing the rout.

SLU came out strong on the second half but failed to surmount RTU’s 12- point lead. Jamago and Rodriguez hit five triples to lead the RTU in scoring. Quarter scores: 22-5; 30-18; 52-34; 71-43 (Thea Padua/SU)
