CED and LHS celebrates   Buwan ng Wika

With the theme: “Wika Mo. Wikang Filipino. Wika ng Mundo Mahalaga!” the college of Education (CED) together with the Laboratory High School (LHS) held the annual Buwan ng Wika Celebration hosted by the Samahan ng Nagpapakadalubhasa sa Filipino (SNF) last August 9-15 at the RTU Quadrangle.

Prior to the week-long celebration, Prof Melvin Mortera, SNF Adviser along with the SNF officers made an announcement regarding the conduct of the activities in the said event which includes Pagsulat ng Sanaysay, Dagliang Talumpati, Talumpati, Maramihang Pag-awit at Sabayang Pagbigkas.

From August 3-9, the six majors (Computer Education, English, Bio – Physical Science, Mathematics, Social Studies) had undergone an elimination process within the college, in which, the two highest scorers will represent the college and compete in LHS on the 15 th at the RTU Quadrangle.

CED students who won in the finals include: Talumpati: Zaren Gaddi, (SocStud) 1 st; Rene Formento, (CompEd) 3 rd; Maramihang Pag-awit: Bio-Physical Science, 1 st; Filipino, 2 nd; Sabayang Pagbigkas; Bio-Physical Science, 2 nd; Mathematics 3 rd; Pagsulat ng Sanaysay: Gizelle Ancheta, 1 st; Slogan: Zernie Pugai,2nd.

They were judged by Prof. Rheydora Flordeliza, Prof. Eduardo Flores and Prof. Maria Christine Pinca. The winners were given trophies, medals and certificates.

Dr. Crema T. Basuil, CED Dean, Prof Lilian A. Villaflor, Filipino Department Head, Prof Melvin Mortera, SNF Adviser, among others, delivered their speech in the awarding ceremony.

The celebration was concluded with the LHS as the over-all champion in this year’s Buwan ng Wika Celebration.
