RTU bags over-all crown in Arnis Cup

RIZAL Technological University bested 21 other teams, including 16 from the region, to win the over-all crown in the Baguio Centennial Arnis Regional Tournament at the YMCA gymnasium recently.

RTU bagged 9 gold, 8 silver, and 5 bronze medals to lord it over the one day tournament hosted by the YMCA Sphinx Clan and Sphinx Kali Arnis.

Kevin Violante, Rowena Diaz, Everly Gardiola, Jelly Ann Almenario, Tyta Delicano, Haydee Bagatin, and Peter de Guzman led RTU’s gold medals. Violante had two.

Philippine Air Force came in second with seven gold, nine silver and eight bronze medal output led by Jaylyn Panganiban’s three gold medal haul including John Golvo’s two with Lovely Cortez and Sheryl de Asis chipping in one gold each.

Pasay came in at third with 6 gold medals, and four silver and two bronze medals. The squad was led by Rocky Labra’s two gold medal haul, Darren Laurence Nicolas, Jacquelyn Sotabento, Maria Juana Sotabento, and Kimberly Jane Bisara.

Baguio City National High School saved the day for Cordillerans placing fourth with its four gold medals, two silver and four bronze meds. The local squad was led by Henry Gando’s two, Claire Donga-as, and Christopher de Leon.

Philippine Military Academy salvaged three gold medals including three silver and five bronze medals.

Other local bets who won the gold medal in their respective weight class are Kurt Pachong (Salaknib) Aira Madames (Irisan National High School), Albert Corpuz (Baguio Central University) Maheika Pareno (Sphinx), and Gee Olden Untalan (Sphinx).

Silver medalists were Jonas Valdez, John Francis Patandoc, Richard Tambol, Edward Ropelsas, Charlotte Velarde, Jona Juan, Edward Rodellas, Kris Chan, Aiko Bataclao, Shane Alejos, Rosella Allares, Christopher de Leon, and Claire Donga-as.

Winning the bronze medals from the region were Claire Donga-as, Aldren Wency, Aiza Filog, Sigrid Lacwasen, Jester Pilpileng, Don Annaway, Daryl laos, Nover Rullan, Alvin Garcia, Katherine Cariño, Therry Ladip, Daniela Tadeo, Jona Juan, Gerard Caluza, and Gio Guillermo.
